The Shiny Side

Catching Up

by DrkAdonis on Aug.23, 2010, under Uncategorized

As you can see from the donation-tracker one post down (go ahead and look, I’ll wait… all set? Good!), we more than hit our goal for raising money to help Kozzy. I am truly astounded by the remarkable people that I surround myself with. Amazing, wonderful, and GENEROUS to boot!

A giant THANK YOU to anyone and everyone who contributed!

On to the gaming side of things…

I haven’t logged into WoW in over a week. I think my last log-in was raiding a week from Saturday ago… yikes! It’s not for a lack of interest, simply a lack of time. Busy with work, busy with real life… but mostly busy with Going Rogue!

GOING ROGUE! Huzzah! City of Heroes’ first TRUE expansion pack has come at such a wonderful lull in the gaming world. The WoW expansion isn’t set to hit for months, The Old Republic is even further around the corner (c’mon, Spring ‘11!), and there just really isn’t anything new and exciting out right now.

BOOM! Going Rogue drops, and everything hits the fan.

It’s been a while since I was TRULY inspired to make a new character. Sure, I’ve made tons since CoH first launched, but only a few have I sat down and thought out more than simple “Yanno what would be fun/funny?”

I’ll have proper character introductions for some of my CoH toons in the near future. I’ve been planning a series of posts based on them for a while, and this is really the best possible time.

So, aside from some ramblings here and there, I’m hoping to get a few decent rotations on my posts. Dust off For Old Time’s Sake and add a few more to keep things fresh. We’ll see!

Work’s been busy lately, so I haven’t had the posting time I’d like. I’m hoping that if I get myself in a rotation groove, maybe even with some templates, that I’ll have a much easier time adding new content to the blog.

Now, if only I’d take the time to upgrade to Wordpress 3….

A Special Request

by DrkAdonis on Aug.06, 2010, under Uncategorized

I know I don’t get many visitors to my blog, but any of you that do read this… I have a request:

Could you please pass on the word about this fund-raiser? You see, one of my dear friends who I met through City of Heroes (Kozzma) found out that his father is terminal. Like… they gave him two days to a month to live… it’s that bad.

Well, Tessa and I have decided that we’re going to raise money to try and send him to visit his father before it’s too late. We ask for any little donation that you can give… but word of mouth can be even more useful! Please, if you’d advertise this… we’re trying to build funds as quickly as possible, since this is a time-sensitive issue.

I apologize for advertising with a post, but I figured this is the best reason to!

Paladin-y Goodness!

by DrkAdonis on Jul.27, 2010, under Uncategorized

After the behemoth that was yesterday’s post, I’m going to keep it short and sweet today.

It’s okay, I know you want to cry a little. Don’t worry, I’ll post again tomorrow!

Anyway, I messed around on the Paladin a little bit last night, leveled a couple times, realized that Paladin + BoA shoulders = lawlmobs. Yeah, life is good.

The only thing that was missing was his STYLE. I mean, he’s big, he’s blue, he looked kinda cool… but a trip to the barber was in order.

BEHOLD! The IMPROVED Astarian!

I’m too sexy for short hair!

Also: he looks like a Klingon. Seriously, what’s not to love about Big Blue?

An Epic Weekend

by DrkAdonis on Jul.26, 2010, under Uncategorized

Woooow. So I’ve been planning this post all day, and I’ve been SLAMMED at work. Let’s see if we can’t squeeze it in before the bell tolls, eh?

We’re going to break it down by character, just for fun!

Oh, and this post is super picture-heavy… so if you are on 56k: YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!

Hit the jump if your ISP can handle my awesomeness!

And Now For Something…

by DrkAdonis on Jul.20, 2010, under Uncategorized

…Completely Different!

The last few posts have been about World of Warcraft. Yippee! I really am glad to be back in Azeroth. And Outland. And Northrend. I digress!

Today we will shed some light on another major spotlight of my current gaming life: The Chrono Trigger Fan Fest Community Playthrough! *gasps* Wow, that was a mouthful.

Click the image to be directed to the CTFF page!

So what’s all of this about, you say? Epic RPG action, says I!

You see, the way this works is every day there is a new GPP (Game Play Point) described on the CTFF website. The idea is that everyone in the community who is “playing along” (see what I did there?) will play that section of the game, and save/stop where it tells you to. That way everyone is playing at the same pace and everyone will finish the game together!

For me, this has been a really great excuse to break out Chrono Trigger after a few years of neglect. I bought the DS release last year, but was yet to beat it. At this rate, I’ll have a New Game + save file by the end of next week!

So, I really wanted to throw a shout-out and a great big THANK YOU! to the awesome people over at Fangamer.com for hosting the CTFF.

If you’re interested in following along for the end, or just seeing some of the cool fan art, etc that is taking place, please click the image above to go to the CTFF website. You can also check it out on Twitter via #ctff.

Oh, and in case there are any CT aficionados out there -  today’s GPP is to complete Mother Brain and the Sun Stone. Huzzah for time-travel!
